Commissions Open!

Journal Entry: Sun Jun 13, 2010, 2:29 PM

So...I've decided to open up for commissions.  Yay for me!  I've sold things/had a few jobs in the real world, but selling over the internet is a whole 'nother experience.  So go ahead and ask questions.  Lots of questions.

Here are the basic details:

TRADITIONAL

GRAPHITE

Graphite is my media of choice and the one that I would say I have the most experience in.  Most of my graphite drawings are in a realism type style.  I use Canson 90lb drawing paper.  11" x 14" is my default size, but you can request different sizes, of course.

A few examples can be seen here: [link]

PENCILS

I use the same paper and techniques for my coloring pencil drawings as I do for my graphite ones, but I more often draw animated and cartoony characters with them, as well as the realistic things.  This is what I use for most of my illustrations and often switch between regular pencils and the watercolor kind.

A few examples can be seen here: [link]

WATERCOLORS

Watercolors are my newest venture in art land.  I use them in illustrative works and, very rarely, a realistic portrait piece.  I use a high quality Strathmore 400 watercolor paper for them.  11" x 15" is the default size here but, again, other sizes can be requested

A few examples can be seen here: [link]

DIGITAL

My digital drawings are done either in Illustrator CS5 or Photoshop CS5 and, in some cases, both.  Usually, I use Photoshop for realistic digital paintings and Illustrator for less real and more animated illustrations.

DESIGN

LOGOS

All of my logos are done in Adobe Illustrator, and so are in vector format, meaning that they are easily resizable to any size without any loss of quality.  I can send logos in a variety of formats, but will always send a default of eps and jpg files.

A few examples can be seen here: [link]

BUSINESS CARDS, ETC.

Business cards and other corporate/design projects can also be made.  And don't stop there - have anything else you want to request?  Brochures?  Fliers and ads?  All of those can be done as well.  Printing can be done for a higher price in the continental US.

DETAILS, DETAILS, DETAILS...

What will I do?  Just about anything.  I consider my specialties in drawing to be equine and human portraiture, but I'm willing to try anything; kangaroos, kitty cats, and koalas?  Bring it on.

I will do nudity, but only when in a tasteful, artsy way.  I'm not going to draw out your porn.

I will not draw anime/manga.

I will draw in other cartoon type styles.

So how does it work? Here's the process for drawings and illustrations: You put in your request (just send me a note or leave me a comment saying "Hey, I want this and bla done"; I ask you for specific details if you haven't provided enough and then guesstimate a price for you; you either say "Awesome!" and accept the deal or "No way in hell am I paying you that" and decline it; You send over a deposit (25% - 50%, depending on price) and I get straight to working on it and give you a potential timeline; Over the course of the drawing/painting (traditional), I send you a rough sketch at the beginning and then a WIP or two as I work on it.  This is your chance to make changes - I won't alter a finished drawing; I send you a photo of the finished piece and you send me the other bit of the price; I get to work packaging it up for shipping and then send it out to you via USPS.

For logos and corp things, it's a bit simpler.  The same idea, but with more client involvement during the logo creation process.  I will send a sheet with several logo sketches after a deal is agreed upon and a deposit sent, and the client can then choose and alter the ideas.

What do I need?  For drawings and paintings based off of a real animal/person, I need at least one reference photo, more is better.  For logos and corp, I need to know what your company does, corp colors, branding specifications, etc.

PRICING and PAYMENT

Pricing will of course entirely depend entirely on complexity and time taken + materials, but a rough table is below:

Graphite:

Horse: $50 - $75
Human: $65 - $100
Other: $35 - $75

Pencils:

Horse: $30 - $85
Human: $45 - $110
Other: $15 - $85

Watercolors:

Horse: $30 - $85
Human: $45 - $110
Other: $15 - $85

I accept PayPal only.  If you would like to pay another way, note me or comment here to ask about it, but normally my answer is going to be "Sorry, but PayPal only, please."  For the first two people to offer, I will also accept a year's sub (29.95) or two three month subs (7.95x2)
